The Top Scholar application is your gateway to the most prestigious opportunities at Marshall. This initiative unites the storied Society of Yeager Scholars, the esteemed Hedrick and Hodges Scholars, and the innovative 1837 Scholars, creating a vibrant community of academic excellence, transformative experiences, and leadership – all housed within The Honors College.
Apply to be considered for full tuition benefits, room and board, study abroad travel, and more, with scholarships valued up to $125,000.

High-achieving students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to community service are eligible to apply. There are no residency restrictions.
Yes, all applicants must have official scores from the ACT or SAT on file. Each scholarship has its own score requirements; we recommend a score at or above 26 ACT or 1230 SAT.
Yes! Be sure to submit your application by the December 15th deadline. If your test scores are not yet available, answer “0” (zero) where the application requests your test score. We will contact you in January if we haven’t yet received an official score.
The selection process involves a thorough review of applications by a committee, followed by phone interviews, then a Top Scholar selection weekend in the Spring.

No, the Yeager program will exist as it has since 1987. Yeager Scholars are part of Marshall’s Top Scholar program, along with Hedrick Scholars, Hodges Scholars, and 1837 Scholars.
Scholars are expected to maintain a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA, participate in program activities, and contribute to the university community through leadership and service.
Scholars receive extensive support, including academic advising, career counseling, and access to exclusive resources such as study abroad programs and additional funding.
