The Office for Access and Opportunity, housed within the Office of Academic Affairs, provides leadership through thoughtful initiatives that foster a climate of increased access and opportunity in academic departments, schools, and colleges.
Led by the Assistant Provost for Access and Opportunity, the Office provides engages with faculty, students, and the community to:
- Foster a climate to increase access and opportunity in the academic departments, schools, and colleges.
- Provide academic support for access & opportunity initiatives.
- Promote curriculum development to provide educational opportunities and the ability of students to take advantage of them.
- Recommend and create long and short-term research goals for broadening educational opportunities.
- Organize events around broadening access & educational opportunities.
- Assist faculty on curriculum development and instructional practices that support accessibility & opportunity learning environment.
- Provide strategic leadership for attracting, recruiting, and employing faculty; retaining, developing, and promoting access & opportunity for faculty; and supporting innovative scholarship, teaching and service.
- Develop and manage a marketing and communications strategy, overseeing the production and maintenance of a website and newsletter.
- Collaborate with and support institutional leadership, academic deans, departments, unit heads, and advisory committees with access and opportunity work.
