Program Overview

International business is the study of business transactions that cross national boundaries. At Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia our program includes the study of international trade in tangible and intangible goods and commodities; the study of banking, insurance, marketing, and other international service transactions. The study of International Business also includes the analysis of direct and portfolio investments made outside the domestic market. Ancillary topics such as economic growth and development and ethics in international business are also generally covered.

All students need to develop a global mind-set to be successful in business. The growth of international business has created a demand for people who have knowledge of global markets. By enrolling in an international business degree program in the Lewis College of Business, you will study topics that are directly related to global business including the politics, economics, and legal issues associated with doing business on an international scale. This will help you see how globalization has brought about an increasing ‘connectedness’ of businesses, markets, people and information across countries.
