Program Overview

The Graduate Certificate is intended for students who wish to prepare for career opportunities in museums, historic homes, libraries, archives, state and national parks, and local, state, and federal governmental agencies. The program is interdisciplinary, as students have the opportunity to take courses in such fields as anthropology, geography, history, journalism, and marketing.

  • HST 537- Introduction to Public History
  • HST 640- Archives & Special Collections
  • HST 680- Public History Internship

Elective Courses (9 credit hours)

Select at least two of the following:

  • HST 635- Oral/Local History Seminar

Select one of the following:

Certain Special Topics in the Graduate Humanities program may also be used. Students should check with the certificate administrator when selecting their courses.
