STEP 1
Apply for admission to Marshall University

Your first step is to apply for admission to Marshall University.

Clicking above will take you to the university’s admissions disclosures and then to the application form. Once you submit your application, our staff will contact you with next steps.

Students applying to Marshall University for the Professional Pilot, B.S. degree program will need to be accepted to Marshall before applying to the Bill Noe Flight School.

Students interested in our professional pilot program at West Liberty University should follow the application instructions on the WLU site.

Students interested in earning our bachelor’s degree from Martinsburg, WV should use the link above to apply to Marshall University.

If you are interested in flight training without earning a bachelor’s degree, apply directly to the Bill Noe Flight School.

Step 2
Medical certificate and citizenship documentation

Once you have received admission to Marshall University, a member of our team will contact you about the next step in the application process. Specifically, you will need to:

Complete a medical exam by an FAA-approved physician.

The FAA requires commercial pilots hold a Class 1 medical certificate. Therefore we require the Class 1 certificate as a condition for admission.

  • If you wear glasses or contacts, have your prescription checked before your appointment with the FAA physician.
  • Check with your personal physician to ensure any prescribed medications are current.
  • Complete your medical certificate application.
  • Make an appointment with a local Aviation Medical Examiner.
  • Submit your medical certificate to the BNFS.

Provide documentation of your U.S. citizenship.

  • You can use a notarized copy of your birth certificate or a current U.S. passport.
  • U.S. citizens born outside the U.S. should contact the Bill Noe Flight School regarding alternate documentation required by the FAA.
  • If you do not have a U.S. passport, we highly recommend you begin the application process after you are admitted.

Step 3
Apply to the Bill Noe Flight School

After you have received admission to Marshall University and received your medial certificate, you will need to apply to the Bill Noe Flight School. On the application, you will be able to select from our Charleston, Martinsburg and Wheeling locations.

We admit qualified applicants on a rolling basis, contingent on program capacity. Therefore, we recommend that you begin the application process as soon as possible.

We will send an e-mail to your Marshall University account regarding your acceptance to the Bill Noe flight school. Your acceptance notification will introduce you to your student advisor and staff members at the Bill Noe Flight School.
