WIND PLAYERS
There are no tryouts for membership in the Marching Thunder for instrumentalists. However, auditions are required for new students that wish to apply for a partial tuition scholarship through the marching band. These partial tuition scholarships are in limited supply and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are interested in auditioning for a partial tuition scholarship, please complete the online information form by following the “Contact Us” link on the home page. Select the audition date that best fits your schedule.
Audition Requirements: 2 scales, and prepared music of the student’s choosing. Percussionists should also be prepared to play basic rudiments.
PERCUSSION
Percussionist will audition for positions on the drum line, which includes: snare, tenor, bass, cymbals. Front ensemble members do not have to audition, but would perform on mallets, auxiliary percussion, electric keyboards, electric bass and guitar, and various other instruments as needed. Click here for more information about percussion auditions.
COLOR GUARD
The Color Guard is a substantial and important part of the Marching Thunder’s visual component. We are constantly trying to add to the visual ensemble. The purpose of the Color Guard audition process is to determine the talent level of each candidate and of the group as a whole. The candidate’s improvement and ability to learn new material is also an important component. Click here for more information about color guard auditions.
MAJORETTES & FEATURE TWIRLERS
The Majorettes and Feature Twirlers are also a significant part of our visual package. We welcome anyone to audition. Click here for more information about auditions.
