Mr. Zach Preston, a Mechanical Engineering student in the Mechanical Engineering, is one of the first-ever recipients of the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship. Lockheed Martin received 6,333 applications and Zach will be receiving one of the 200 scholarships that were offered in 2019. Students will receive up to $40,000 total in scholarship funding, or $10,000 per school year for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever comes first. Recipients will also be eligible for a paid Lockheed Martin internship opportunity.
Zach is the only West Virginia student to receive this STEM scholarship.
Zach graduated from Wayne High School and was part of the Pre-Engineering program there entitled “Project Lead the Way”. A former student at Bridge Valley Technical College he completed the AMT, Advanced Manufacturing Technology degree. He also did 21 months in an industrial maintenance internship. He currently goes to Marshall University full time and works full time as a Maintenance Technician in the Toyota Gear Manufacturing plant. In his free time, he enjoys working on the family hobby farm, skeet shooting, camping, hiking and he has always enjoyed working with robotics.
