Jim Woodrum

Biography

Jim Woodrum graduated with his BA in Sports Management & Marketing from Marshall in 1983 and a MS in Athletics Administration in 1986.  Jim served as an Adjunct Instructor in Sports Management/Marketing at Marshall for four years in the mid-1990s.  He previously was employed by Marshall in the Department of Athletics from 1985-1998, serving last as an Associate Athletic Director-External Operations.

Prior to returning to Marshall to teach, Jim served as the Owner/CEO of Woodrum Consulting Group LLC (2019-present), as the Chief Operating Officer and then Chief Strategy Officer/Partner at Huddle, Inc. (2012-2019) and as Senior/Regional Vice President for ISP Sports and IMG College (1998-2012).  Jim has also served Marshall on the Board of Directors for the MU Alumni Association, as a member of the MU Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, and as a founding member of the Huntington Sports Committee.  He was awarded IMG’s highest honor in 2011 with the Ben Sutton, Sr. Achievement Award as well as ISPY Awards in 2006 & 2007 and Most Visionary Employee Award in 2002.  Additionally, the Thundering Herd Football Alumni Association awarded Jim their Challenge Award in 2022 for dedicated service to Marshall Football.

Jim is an Instructor in Sales, Sales Management and Marketing classes at Marshall.  He will also serve as the Director of the Service Wire Sales and Service Center in the Lewis College of Business.  In his 35+ year career, Jim sold and managed over $400 million dollars in sales and taught hundreds of students and corporate sales professionals the art of selling.

Jim is one of four brothers to have graduated from Marshall.  Jim’s wife, Renee, is a 1985 Marshall graduate as well as both of their sons – Cole (BA –2014/MBA –2016) and Noah (BA-2020).
