Biography

George S. Lu, CPA, Ph.D. is the Hedrick Endowed Assistant Professor of Accounting at Marshall University.  Lu’s research focuses on financial institution regulation, bank financial accounting and reporting, and corporate earnings management.  In 2023 and 2024, his solo-authored research was invited and presented at the American Accounting Association (AAA) Annual Meetings, held in Denver and Washington D.C., respectively.  In addition, his research has been presented at the Hawaii Accounting Research Conference, AAA International Accounting Section, AIS and SET Midyear Meetings, among others.  Prior to academia, he worked in corporate accounting at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, a global Fortune 500 company.  Lu earned his Ph.D. in Accounting and Management Information Systems (AMIS) from The Ohio State University, where he also earned a B.S.B.A. in Finance magna cum laude.  He earned a M.S. in Accounting from Kent State University.  A double alumnus of Ohio State, he is a proud Buckeyes fan.  Lu is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Ohio.
