Scholarships
Georgianna Buchanan Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate nursing student in good academic standing (not applicable to incoming freshmen)
- Resident of Lawrence County, Ohio; Cabell County, WV or Logan County, WV
- Annual award of $1,000
Dora Craig Memorial Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate nursing student
- Preference given to Mingo County, WV and Pike County, KY applicants, but all WV and KY students encouraged to apply
- Annual award of $3,000 ($1,500 per semester)
Jane Deacon Flower Scholarship in Nursing
- Full-time, undergraduate nursing student
- Preference given to students participating in pre-licensure BSN program
Mary W. George Medical Technology Scholarship
- Must have completed an associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Must be entering senior Clinical Laboratory Science courses
- Must have minimum GPA of 2.5 for CLS courses; GPA of 2.0 overall
- Financial need and commitment to medical technology will precede academic ability as selection criteria.

- Must be full-time, actively enrolled Clinical Laboratory Science student
- Must be West Virginia or metro resident

The George J. Harold & Dr. Ruth C. Garrett Awards Endowment
- The George J. Harold Graduate Academic Award: The recipient shall be the student who completes the master’s degree in Communication Disorders with the highest grade point average.
- The Dr. Ruth C. Garrett Undergraduate Academic Award: The recipient shall be the student who completes the bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders with the highest grade point average.
Mary C. Baker Meadows and Linda A. Meadows Hodges Nursing Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate nursing student who is a rising sophomore
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Preference given to West Virginia students
- Award available for two years (4 semesters) if in good academic standing
Huntington Pediatric Clinic Council Scholarship
- Formerly known as E.M. Kline Pediatric Clinic Council Nursing Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate nursing students may apply
John E. Huxley Scholarship for Physical Therapy
- Full-time, graduate student majoring in Physical Therapy
- 3.0 GPA Minimum
- Must be resident of West Virginia
- Renewable up to 3 years (9 semesters) if in good academic standing
Kristin McComis Parsons Memorial Scholarship
- Full-time, graduate student majoring in Communication Disorders
- Donor anticipates contributing $3,000 annually to fund award
- Renewable for 2 full years (6 semesters)
Ruth Caraway Morris Scholarship
- full-time, graduate student majoring in Physical Therapy
- Must be resident of West Virginia
- Based on merit/financial need
John F. Morton Nursing Award
- Must be graduate student who has completed graduate degree in nursing
- Must demonstrate outstanding achievement in clinical practice
Giovanna B. Morton Memorial Scholarship
- Must be admitted into nursing program
- Must demonstrate clinical excellence and leadership
- Minimum of 3.5 GPA
James Angelos Papas Memorial Nursing Scholarship
- Must be a nursing major
- Must be married student with one or more dependent children
- Renewable for 4 years (8 semesters) based on good academic standing
Jeri Stoner Memorial
- Must be a nursing major
- Must be junior or senior level
- Financial need will be a consideration.
Jane Snyder Trainor Nursing Scholarship
- Full-time, undergraduate student who has been accepted into School of Nursing
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Preference given to West Virginia residents
- Renewable for 4 years (8 semesters) based on good academic standing
Sally Garrett Walters Memorial Scholarship
- Must be a graduate student majoring in Communication Disorders
- Must be West Virginia resident
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Must be in good academic standing
- Renewable for 3 years (6 semesters)
