The university is conducting a second COVID-19 survey to give Marshall employees who missed the first survey another opportunity to indicate their willingness and desire to receive a vaccination after the first of the year.
If you did not respond to the first survey earlier this month and want to receive a vaccination, please respond to this second survey no later than 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27. To avoid duplication, if you completed the first vaccine survey, you should not complete the second survey.
It is the university’s intention to provide vaccine for all employees who want it, regardless of whether the employee completed the earlier survey or not.
In prioritizing employees for receiving the vaccine, the university’s Ad Hoc Vaccine Advisory Group decided to take into account both the timing of response to the surveys and the following categories, in order of priority:
- 65 years old and older with CDC-defined underlying medical conditions
- 65 years old and older without those underlying medical conditions and 50-64 years old with CDC-defined underlying medical conditions
- 50-64 years old without those underlying medical conditions
- Health sciences faculty with direct patient contact
- On-campus personnel who have direct contact with the public
- All other employees working on-site
- All remaining employees
Once the university submits the information to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and vaccination schedules are finalized, employees who have indicated they are willing to get the vaccine will receive an e-mail from the CDC with instructions and appointment information.
For now, we anticipate that all vaccinations will be administered on the Huntington campus. Employees who work in the South Charleston or Mid-Ohio Valley Center locations will need to travel to Huntington if they wish to receive vaccine.
Marshall officials have been told to expect to receive the Moderna vaccine, although that is subject to change.
The vaccinations are entirely voluntary. If you do not want to receive a vaccination at this time, you do not need to complete the survey.
All survey responses are confidential and will be used solely for the purposes of prioritizing and scheduling vaccinations.
