As part of the COVID relief package approved by Congress in late December, Marshall has received $4.5 million in federal funding to award to eligible students during the global COVID-19 pandemic, for the Spring 2021 semester.
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) has guidelines for disbursement based on information from the U.S. Department of Education. It is important to note that Marshall University does not have the authority to alter those directives.
There is no application process for this emergency funding. All awards will be distributed based on existing information available on a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The award amounts will vary based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC), with the highest amount of $1,000 being given to students with the greatest need per their FAFSA on file. Other levels of emergency fund distribution are $400, $300 and $200, again based on the student’s existing FAFSA information.
Awards will be posted to student accounts beginning this Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2021. Please allow 7-10 business days for your refund to be processed via your e-Refund preference. If you have already filed a FAFSA, please monitor your account.
An appeal process is available to students beginning Feb. 8 and can be accessed here.
