College of Science students present research at the WV Capitol

Students from Marshall University’s College of Science showcased their groundbreaking research at the Twentieth Annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol in Charleston, WV! This event gives students the invaluable opportunity to present their work to state lawmakers and leaders, demonstrating the real-world impact of scientific discovery. By sharing their research at the Capitol, our students help bridge the gap between science and policy, highlighting the importance of research in shaping West Virginia’s future.

Biological Sciences

MU Biological Sciences represents at the Twentieth Annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol. This event features research from students of colleges and universities from around the state to help the WV State Legislature and Executive Branch understand the importance of undergraduate scholarly activities.

Natural Resources & Earth Sciences

Natural Resources and Earth Sciences students Robbie Smallman, Gabe Corbin and John Moccio presented their research on zooplankton of the Ohio River at Undergraduate Research Day at the Capital on March 25, 2025. The Environmental Science majors had a chance to discuss their research with the eminent Dr. Tom Pauley. The students are mentored by Dr. Mindy Yeager-Armstead and the research project is supported by US Army Corps of Engineers Engineering Research and Development Center.
