On 9 November 2024, two mathematics faculty Dr. Trung Truong and Dr. Tom Cuchta took a group of students to the 42nd Southeastern-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations, held this year at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.

There were five talks contributed by students and faculty from Marshall’s Department of Mathematics and Physics. One undergraduate, Richard Williams, gave a talk titled “The Heat Equation on Discrete Time Scales”. Three mathematics graduate students gave talks: Rebecca Oduro spoke on “First-order Nabla Riemann–Liouville fractional difference equations”, Wasiu Sule spoke on “Gompertz distribution on time scales”, and Robert Ireri spoke on “A Numerical Method for Coefficient Reconstruction of a Periodic Inverse Source Problem”. Additionally, Dr. Tom Cuchta spoke on “Periodic functions with nonuniform domains”.

The Southeastern-Atlantic Regional Conference on Differential Equations is held annually in various cities along the east coast of the US. It was previously held at Florida A&M University in 2023 and at NC State University in 2022.
