Universal Design for Learning
The mission of Marshall’s UDL Community of Practice is to build an infrastructure of pedagogical practices at our university that address barriers to learning and increase our students’ ability to become expert learners.
Instead of trying to address each student’s individual challenges within a standardized course, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) challenges instructors to create equitable flexibility within their courses that can account for the variability in their students’ learning styles and abilities. This is achieved through providing multiple means of engagement, multiple means of representation, and multiple means of action and expression.
