A student receives assistance from the Marshall University HELP Program
Herd HELP

Marshall Athletics is proud to support student-athletes who may benefit from additional academic resources through the Herd HELP Division of College HELP. Disclosing diagnoses to receive support will in no way affect the athletic eligibility of student-athletes.

Herd HELP is housed within the Buck Harless Student-Athlete Center at the Chris Cline Athletic Complex. This division was created to support student-athletes diagnosed with ADHD, a Specific Learning Disability, and/or related disorders in the areas of skills development and academics. Additionally, this division provides diagnostic services to help identify student-athletes with various disorders.

Upon admission to Herd HELP, the student athlete will complete a Tutoring Registration Form with academic and skill development recommendations provided by the Coordinator of Herd HELP and their Athletic Advisor.

The services provided through Herd HELP include:

  • One-on-one skill development tutoring with a learning specialist targeting areas such as:
    • Executive Functioning
    • Reading
    • Written Expression
    • Mathematics
  • One-on-one academic tutoring by highly trained tutors
  • Academic accommodations (such as extended time on tests and private testing)
  • Diagnostic services
