Marshall University’s Dual Credit program offers West Virginia high school students the opportunity to jump-start their college education while still in high school. By participating in dual credit courses, students can earn both high school and college credit simultaneously, giving them a competitive edge in their academic journey. Check with your high school counselor to find out what college courses may be offered at your high school.

Eligibility, Availability & Cost

Eligibility Requirements

Dual credit courses are offered at partnering high schools in West Virginia. Classes are open to qualified high school juniors and seniors. High school freshman and sophomores may be eligible to take dual credit courses on a limited basis with some additional admission requirements. Some courses may have additional requirements like a minimum GPA or prerequisites.

Course Availability

Check with your high school counselor or contact your county’s dual enrollment coordinator to find out which courses are available in your county.

Cost

Dual credit and online tuition for high school students is offered at a discounted rate of $25 per credit hour. Most courses for high school students are three credit hours (approximately $75 per course).

Dual credit students make payments directly to their high school or county school board. Please check with your high school counselor for details.

How to Enroll
  1. Apply to Marshall: Submit your Marshall University Early Entry application
  2. Provide Documentation: Upload your high school transcript and required documents.
  3. Meet with an Advisor: Discuss your goals and course options with your high school counselor and a dual credit advisor.
  4. Register for Classes: After being accepted to Marshall and reviewing available course options in your school and county, you should contact your high school counselor for registration instructions.
