#HerdHoliday Department Gingerbread House Decorating Contest
Happy virtual #HerdHoliday, faculty and staff!
Get your department or office in the holiday spirit with our department gingerbread house competition! Compete in a friendly competition against other Marshall University departments and offices for a chance to win spirit bags, a certificate and bragging rights.
How to Participate
To participate in the competition, select one team representative to email socialmedia@marshall.edu by noon on Friday, November 20 to confirm your department or office’s interest. Hurry, supplies are limited!
After all teams are confirmed, team representatives will be contacted to pick up the gingerbread house starter kits provided by the Division of Student Affairs.
Contest Rules
- All departments and offices are invited to participate.
- Teams can be made up of up to six (6), faculty and staff members within the department.
- Teams must use the materials provided in the starter kit but are not limited to those items – additional materials can be added at the teams discretion.
- All CDC and Marshall University COVID-19 health and safety guidelines must be followed.
- Team representatives must submit a final picture of your festive gingerbread house to socialmedia@marshall.edu no later than noon on Friday, December 4 and include the name of the department or office and the names of all team members who participated.
Contest Voting
Contest voting will take place on the @MarshallU Facebook page.
- Submitted team photos will be posted on our Herd Holiday website and linked to the @MarshallU Facebook page for voting.
- A photo album consisting of the photos from each team will be posted at www.facebook.com/marshallu on Monday, Dec. 7.
- The photo of the gingerbread house with the most likes by noon on Monday, December 21 will be the contest winner.
- The team with the most likes at the end of the contest will win Marshall University spirit bags for faculty and staff members in their department or office (up to 20 bags) and a certificate!
Participate from Home
We would LOVE to see gingerbread creations from our entire Marshall Family! Take a photo of your Herd Holiday inspired gingerbread house and post it to social media using #HerdHoliday and tag @MarshallU! Don’t forget to make sure your post it public so we can see it.
