The annual deadline for accepting an invitation to join the Honors College has been extended by one month to June 1st 2021 for incoming Fall 2021 students
Congratulations on your recent acceptance to Marshall University.
Incoming first-year students with outstanding academic performance as high school students, are invited to join the Honors College. The Honors College reflects Marshall’s commitment to academic excellence and to an enriched academic experience for its best and most motivated students. Honors education at Marshall includes smaller classes, a dedicated curriculum taught by talented faculty, a student association, honors residences, and scholarship opportunities.
Eligible students will receive notification in the right-hand side-bar of their MyMU when the are logged-in using the credentials (username and password) provided by the university. Students must accept their Honors College invitation by June 1st 2021. The invitation will appear as seen here:
To proceed from this screen, you’ll need to click on the green “Click here to accept your invitation” link at the bottom of the Honors College Invite box. After clicking on that link, you’ll be taken to the Honors College website for a login using the same credentials, as seen here:
The “waiver” noted here refers, in fact, to a scholarship associated with admission to the Honors College which “waives” a certain amount of tuition. All matters pertaining to the award of scholarships are overseen by the Marshall University Office of Student Assistance once a student has been invited to the college. Once logged-in, you’ll be presented with the following screen:
The crucial text of the above Accept/Decline page, detailing expectations for Honors College students is provided below. At this point, you will need to decide whether or not you intend to accept our offer of admission to the Honors College. Remember, students have until June 1st 2021 to accept their Honors College invitation for Fall 2021 admission to the Honors College. Your answer to this invitation does not affect your admission to Marshall University, but will determine whether or not you will be a member of the college. Accept the waiver/invitation if you want to become a member of the college.
All eligible students considering admission to the Honors College should understand that in order to remain in Good Standing in the Honors College, they must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at Marshall University and must continue to meet the following terms:
- Attend a First Year Check-In conference during their first semester in the Honors College.
- Earn an overall GPA of at least 3.00 at the end of their first semester at Marshall and maintain an overall GPA of 3.30 thereafter.
- Complete a minimum of 6 Honors credits in your first 2 semesters.
- Register for and complete HON200 by the spring of their second year at Marshall.
- Complete at least 3 honors credits each academic year until completing the Honors Curriculum.
