If you received an email from MUIT regarding an external account being compromised, this is a legitimate email. Marshall University was not breached and did not share credentials or any other personal information. An external/non-Marshall site was breached where you set up an account using your MU email address. Since you used your MU email address, the Office of Information Technology was notified so that we could send a you a courtesy letting you know that you have a password available to bad actors on the internet. This courtesy is sent for your protection only. As long as you are following best practices and not re-using passwords on multiple accounts, your MU account is safe.
