Class of 1972
Wilson began his journalism career in Florida as a reporter for the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel. He worked in various editing positions at The Miami Herald, The Washington Times, and The Rockford Register Star, in Illinois. He was assistant city editor of The Detroit News before moving to his dream job at The New York Times. He was the assistant science editor of The Times for nearly ten years. He was a founding member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association where he received membership card number 4. Wilson was nominated for the NLGJA’s Hall of Fame.
