Class of 1970
Jane Hambric was a Parkersburg, W. Va. native who earned a B.A. in journalism and an M. A. in English education from Marshall University. During her time at Marshall, she was business manager of The Parthenon and completed internships at The Raleigh Register and The Beckley Post Herald. She was an influential journalism teacher at America’s High School in El Paso, Texas. Following Hambric’s death, more than 600 people in the El Paso area wrote letters to the school district or signed petitions asking that a new school be named in her memory. The Jane A. Hambric School for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade was dedicated November 8, 2000.
