A master storyteller in print and in person, Jody Jividen was able to combine his love of sports and writing into a 21-year distinguished, award winning career at the Charleston Daily Mail.
At Marshall, Jividen served as a reporter, sports editor, managing editor and then editor for The Parthenon. He started at the Daily Mail on the federal courts beat and launched a local column called “You and Yours.” As a sports writer, Jividen covered everything from high school sports to Marshall and West Virginia University athletics to the 1996 Summer Olympics. He later became sports editor and city editor of the paper, roles in which he was able to mentor numerous journalists. Jividen passed away in 2002 at the age of 44.
