Shortly after graduating from Marshall, Kish accepted a position at Ashland Oil where he remained for 16 years. He occupied a number of senior level positions in marketing, public relations and internal communications with Ashland and its Valvoline Division. He was the vice president of Valvoline and manager of Ashland Corporate Resources Group and Divisional Communications. He left the company in 2006. Following his tenure with Ashland Oil, Kish became vice president of marketing and revenues for the Kentucky Association of Manufacturers, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications with Xerox Services, Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Global Recruiting, and Sales and Marketing Manager for Correction Enterprises, Department of Public Safety of North Carolina.
Kish also can claim notable public service and leaderships roles including Chairman of the United Way of the Bluegrass campaign of 2002, Chairman of the board for the Better Business Bureau, Board Chair of the Bluegrass State Games, and graduate of Leadership Kentucky.
