Norfolk Southern on Nov. 13, 2012, presented Marshall University officials with a $25,000 donation to be used for rail research at the university’s Rahall Transportation Institute (RTI). Accepting the donation on Marshall’s behalf were, from left, Layton Cottrill, senior vice president for executive affairs and general counsel; Robert “Bob” Plymale, RTI director and CEO; and Dr. Ron Area, senior vice president for development and CEO of the Marshall University Foundation.
