Biography

Martin Saunders, Director of the School of Music and Professor of Trumpet, joined the faculty of Marshall University in 2002. Prior to his appointment at Marshall University, Martin spent seven years in the Air Force Band program at Offutt AFB in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Saunders is an active trumpeter and has been an adjudicator and clinician for several highly regarded festivals and conferences across the United States. Martin has served as an Artist Faculty member of the National Trumpet Competition, has presented at the William Adam International Trumpet Festival, and given master classes and clinics at various regional trumpet festivals. He has performed with famous entertainers including Arturo Sandoval, LeAnn Rimes, Rich Little, Gregory Porter, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, and is lead trumpeter for Landau Murphy, Jr., 2011 winner of NBC TV’s reality show America’s Got Talent.

Martin Saunders is a Conn/Selmer Bach Artist.
