Update, 4/22/2015:
As a result of the current weather conditions, today’s pop tab collection and Goodwill drop offs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Awareness Week has been delayed until 1 p.m. today to allow the rain to pass. If you have either to donate, we will be collecting those items from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Campus Christian Center’s side lawn (next to Fifth Avenue) weather permitting.
In addition, we will also collect items at our table tomorrow, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the Student Center plaza. (Our table will be inside the Student Center tomorrow if it rains.) Please come show your support tomorrow for the last day of the Awareness Week. We will have games to play, and several lucky people will have a chance to win some small prizes!
Please join us tomorrow and celebrate a wonderful organization that helps families with sick children by providing them a home near the hospital so they can be close to their child during treatment.
For more information, please contact Maggie Smith at smith1769@marshall.edu or Jessica Ross at jessica.ross@marshall.edu. Thank you for supporting a local non-profit that helps people in our community. The Ronald McDonald House exists because of the generosity and support of community friends. Please come join us and be one of them.

April 21, 2015
The student public relations group RHMC Communications is sponsoring three days of activities to benefit and bring attention to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Tri-State.
On Tuesday, April 21, the team will have a table on the student center plaza, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with information about volunteering, a place to write cards to families staying at RMH and a couple of small games in which anyone may participate.
On Wednesday, April 22, they will have a table outside of the Christian Center (on the lawn facing Fifth Ave.) where they will collect Goodwill items and pop tabs as donations for the house. RMH is accepting items for donation to Goodwill until Sunday, April 26. All contributions will be placed in a Goodwill truck, and if the truck is filled, the House will receive $1,000. RMHC Communications is asking students, as well as Marshall faculty and staff, to join in. They will take the donations to the House for them, as long as they bring their items to their table on April 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They also will be accepting pop tab donations. The house runs a pop tabs donation program, and they are asking students to contribute any they have collected. Clubs who participate can receive one hour of community service for each club member who donates, if the group brings in more than 100 pop tabs. If a group collects more than 100, each member can receive one hour of community service per 100 tabs collected. They ask that the organization’s president or the member in charge of community service collects the names of the club members who donate so community service credit can be distributed properly.
On Thursday, April 23, RMHC Communications will again have a table on the student center plaza from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where students will be able to write cards, learn about volunteering and RMH, play games and receive flyers for the next restaurant fundraiser. All day, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Bob Evans on Third Ave will host a fundraiser for RMH. Any guest that brings the flyer when dining at the restaurant will help support the local Ronald McDonald House.
“Ronald McDonald House provides such an incredible service to families in difficult situations throughout the Tri-State area,” said Maggie Smith, assistant director of RMHC Communications. “They provide all the necessary amenities of home to families with children staying in the hospital. The house allows them to have comfort and peace of mind, knowing they only need to worry about their child, not about where to sleep or find a meal. The Ronald McDonald House is a ‘home away from home’ for them, and it is one of the many reasons why as a group, we want to show our support. We hope many students will take this opportunity and stop by to participate in RMH Awareness Week.”
