Recruitment events assist prospective students at all phases of decision making

Marshall University’s Office of Recruitment is conducting three events this month. One is for students beginning their college search process, one for students determining whether to apply to Marshall, and the third is for students who have already been admitted to Marshall.

“Finding a College Without Losing Your Mind,” an educational workshop for high school sophomores and juniors and their parents, will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, in Room BE5 on the lower level of Marshall University’s Memorial Student Center on the Huntington campus.

“There’s no question the college search process can be overwhelming–but it doesn’t have to be,” said Dr. Beth Wolfe, director of recruitment at Marshall. “Sessions are designed to help students and their families understand the concept of finding a school that ‘fits,’ to demystify the lingo involved in college admissions and enrollment, and to develop strategies for paying for college.”

In addition to the high school students and their parents, high school counselors are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided for all participants.

A brief informational session about Marshall and campus tours will be provided at the end of the day.

Students are asked to RSVP online at www.marshall.edu/recruitment/tour-our-campus/ or by calling Meghan Sparrow, special events coordinator, at 304-696-5823.

For students who are considering Marshall, the February Green and White Day can help them determine if Marshall would be their Best. Decision. Ever. On Saturday, Feb. 27, Marshall’s undergraduate programs will be on display for interested students and parents. The half-day open house program will provide attendees with an overview of Marshall’s enrollment process, time with the academic program of the student’s interest, a campus tour and lunch in a campus dining hall. A sample itinerary and online registration are available at www.marshall.edu/recruitment/tour-our-campus/.

Finally, students who have been admitted for the Fall 2016 semester are invited to attend “Marshall 2020: Looking Into Your Future,” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20. Representatives from each of Marshall’s academic colleges will attend the reception to allow incoming students to make personal connection with the faculty and staff from their major. Following the reception, students can attend a variety of campus events to experience a slice of student life. Students are asked to RSVP with Sparrow at 304-696-5823.

“Each of these events is specially designed for the specific audience who is invited to attend,” said Wolfe. “We always look forward to meeting potential new students, and showing them the amazing benefits of a Marshall education.”
