School of Pharmacy faculty honored at annual state meeting; Craig Kimble installed as pharmacy association president

Three Marshall University School of Pharmacy faculty members were honored Saturday at the West Virginia Pharmacists Association’s (WVPA) 109th Annual Convention in Charleston, West Virginia.

Craig Kimble, Pharm. D., M.B.A., an assistant professor of pharmacy practice, administration and research at the school, was installed as president of the WVPA for the 2016-2018 term.  He  served the association previously as president-elect and treasurer and also is active on the board of trustees for the Ohio Pharmacists Association.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Marshall, Kimble is the director of experiential learning and manager of clinical support services at the school.  craigkimbleHe joined the faculty at Marshall in 2013 after stints with Fruth Pharmacy, McKesson Corporation, and the Holzer Health System in Ohio.

Kimble received his doctor of pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in 1998. He completed a one-year residency in pharmacy practice at the University of Kentucky Hospitals and St. Claire Medical Center in 1999.  He also holds a master’s in business administration from Morehead State University and a master’s in health care administration from Marshall.

robertstantonMarshall faculty members Robert Stanton, Pharm.D., M.B.A. and Charles “C.K.” Babcock, Pharm.D., were also recognized with awards at the annual meeting.

Stanton, assistant dean for experiential learning, was presented with the Bowl of Hygeia Award for his outstanding record of community service.  Stanton volunteers for several organizations including Marshall Medical Outreach, a student-led group that provides health care to the area’s homeless and underserved.

ckbabcockBabcock, clinical assistant professor in the department of pharmacy practice, was awarded  with the Generation Rx Champion Award for his training of pharmacists and other health care professionals about the benefits and use of naloxone for drug abuse.
