The Marshall University School of Music will present “Baroque and Beyond: An Evening of Serene Music by Vivaldi, Handel, Boccherini, and Beethoven.”
The faculty chamber concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Jomie Jazz Center’s Jomie Forum.
The performers will include Dr. Wendell Dobbs on flute, Dr. Elizabeth Reed Smith on violin, Dr. Şölen Dikener on cello, Dr. Henning Vauth on harpsichord and guest artists Kristen Alves, a member of the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, playing violin and Bernard Di Gregorio, principal viola player for the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, on viola.
“The music from the Baroque and the Early Classical eras are known for their appealing quality with beautiful tunes and ardent character,” Dikener said.
The concert is free and open to all. It is sponsored by the School of Music and the College of Arts and Media.
