The Marshall University School of Music presents “Musical Family,” a faculty trio recital featuring Wendell Dobbs on flute, Şölen Dikener on cello and Johan Botes on piano at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, in the Jomie Jazz Forum, which is adjacent to the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Dobbs-Dikener-Botes Trio returns to stage with this exciting and diverse program featuring works by J. S. Bach, Johann N. Hummel and the French female composer Louise Farrenc.
“Our program features a couple of different musical families,” Dobbs said. “There’s the Bach family … in this case, the father Johann Sebastian and his son Carl Philip Emanuel come to mind. But musical families can also be students and teachers, such as Louise Dumont Farrenc, who studied with Johann Nepomuk Hummel, both of whom are represented on the program. We hope all will enjoy this program of musical families from the 18th and 19th centuries.”
The recital is sponsored by the School of Music in the College of Arts and Media. All are welcome.
