The Tri-State Coal Cats baseball team has named Marshall Orthopaedics, a member of Marshall Health Network, as its official sports medicine provider.

“Marshall Orthopaedics has a long-standing history of excellence and a deep commitment to serving athletes at every level,” said Christian Palmer, general manager of the Tri-State Coal Cats. “Their expertise and dedication ensure that our players will receive the highest quality care, both on and off the field. We are confident that this collaboration will greatly enhance the health and performance of our players.”

Marshall Orthopaedics will provide comprehensive sports medicine services to the Tri-State Coal Cats under the leadership of Marshall Health Orthopaedic Surgeon Dana S. Lycans, M.D., and on-the-field coverage by certified athletic trainer Bryan Booth, A.T.C. Players will also have access to Marshall Health Network’s experienced team of physicians, athletic trainers and physical therapists who use the latest techniques and technology in sports medicine care.

“Marshall Orthopaedics is proud to be a part of baseball’s return to Huntington,” Lycans said. “Our aim is to keep the Coal Cats in peak health and performance level throughout the season.”

The Coal Cats is an Appalachian League collegiate summer league baseball team, affiliated with Major League Baseball. The team will play home games at Marshall’s brand-new baseball stadium, Jack Cook Field, in Huntington.

Marshall Orthopaedics also serves as the official provider for Marshall Athletics, numerous high schools and middle schools across southern West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky, as well as community events such as the Marshall Marathon.
