NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising, recently announced the members of their 2024 Emerging Leaders Program which includes Sarah Davis, director of undergraduate academic advising at Marshall.

NACADA’s Emerging Leader Program selects individuals based on their demonstrated leadership potential and dedication to the field of academic advising. This competitive program aims to mentor and support emerging leaders in higher education advising, fostering a new generation of experts dedicated to enhancing student achievement.

This honor recognizes Davis’ exceptional contributions to academic advising and unwavering commitment to student success.

“Sarah is Marshall University’s first director of undergraduate advising. She has done an excellent job in coordinating advising policies and practices, helping ease student transitions between colleges when they change majors, and serving as a liaison between advisors and administrators when there are barriers to student opportunities and success.” Said Dr. Sherri Stepp, associate dean of undergraduate studies.

“She has worked to expand professional development opportunities for our advisors, encourage participation in regional and national conferences, and has strengthened the intercollege advising network on campus. We are excited that she will be joining NACADA’s Emerging Leader Program to collaborate with other leaders in the advising field and share her knowledge and experience with us,” Stepp said.

As a member of the NACADA Emerging Leader Class, Davis will participate in a two-year leadership development program, gaining valuable insights and skills to contribute to the advancement of academic advising. She will be paired with a mentor from NACADA’s diverse pool of experienced leaders, working on projects that address key issues in advising and higher education.

“I am excited and grateful for this opportunity,” Davis said “NACADA has had a profound impact on my professional development. This program will allow me to contribute more to Marshall University and continue to grow with our amazing advising staff.”
