West Virginia Science Adventures to host third annual summer camp for K-12 students

Share
For the third year, the West Virginia Science Adventures program will offer nine weeks of summer adventures for K-12 students.

Dr. Suzanne Strait, biological sciences professor and director of the camp, said students will have an unforgettable experience with each of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) activities.

“All camps are hands-on with science, including creativity and art, and we sneak math in at every opportunity (and the kids don’t even notice it),” Strait said. “With camps spanning many fields such as astronomy, physics, chemistry, zoology, engineering, forensics, mathematics, microscopy, anatomy, microbiology and computer programming, your child will explore through both hands-on and activity based learning. The camps offer the opportunity for your child to enrich their science education and see what real science is all about.”

Each camp is staffed with Marshall University faculty members and graduate students, as well as local professionals. The camp’s staff to camper ratio ranges from 2:6 to 2:20, permitting very individualized instruction.
