The annual Tri-State Marching Championships return Saturday, Oct. 16, to the Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Marshall University’s Huntington campus. This event attracts high school marching bands from all over the Tri-State area, including groups from Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia and throughout the state of West Virginia.

Bands will take the field to perform their shows and compete in front of a panel of judges from around the country. Gates open at 8:45 a.m., with the first high school performing at 9:30 a.m.

The Marshall University Marching Thunder will perform a special exhibition performance at 5:15 p.m., which will be followed by the awards ceremony.

The event is open to the public, and admission is $10, available at Gate A the day of the event.

“The Tri-State Marching Championships are the highlight of the fall, and I am so happy to welcome everyone to the beautiful Joan C. Edwards Stadium for a day of music and pageantry,” said Dr. Adam Dalton, director of bands at Marshall. “I am excited to see and hear live high school marching bands back on the field at Marshall University.”
