The Marshall University School of Music will present a faculty recital, “Music with a Touch of Jazz,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, in Smith Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public.
This faculty recital features Dr. Michael Stroeher, professor of low brass; Dr. Martin Saunders, professor of trumpet, and Dr. Johan Botes, associate professor of piano. They will perform jazz-influenced modern classics by Jim Pugh of the Woody Herman Band and Return to Forever, and Broadway composer Joseph Turrin.
“The music on this concert represents a fusion of jazz, rock, Latin, and classical, with some of the best elements of all those styles. It’s also very listener-friendly,” Stroeher said.
The concert is sponsored by the School of Music in the College of Arts and Media.
