Medical school dean search begins

Marshall University has launched a national search for the sixth dean of its Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine.

The dean serves as the chief medical executive of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, leading the faculty and staff of the school in planning, securing resources, and implementing and evaluating activities related to academic operations, research and outreach, as well as patient care programs through Marshall Health.

Marshall University President Brad D. Smith appointed Bobby L. Miller, M.D., vice dean of medical education, to serve as interim dean in June 2022.

Grant Cooper, a national health care executive search firm, has been retained to assist in the search. The position is open until filled. However, only applications received by Tuesday, March 6, 2023, can be assured full consideration.
