This year marks the 60th year for the annual event, which features international foods, world music, dance and displays representing many different countries and cultures.
“Putting on an event that has been a long-standing tradition, not only for the state, but for Marshall University, is something I am very honored and proud to do,” said Shaunte Polk, director of intercultural and international students. “The festival highlights and celebrates cultures from around the world. Those who attend can fully immerse themselves in a multitude of different traditions, clothing styles and foods without ever setting foot on a plane or spending a dime.”
International students at Marshall University currently represent more than 50 countries. Some of those students will be participating in the event and special performances from India and Japan will be showcased. Guests may also enjoy live music or take part in a silent auction.
The festival will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Don Morris Room in the Memorial Student Center. The event is free and open to the public. Media are invited and encouraged to attend.
