A luncheon was held last Wednesday in the MU Foundation Hall’s Moses Board Room to honor McGinnis and other members of the Huntington Federal board of directors. Huntington Federal Savings Bank is a longtime friend and supporter of the Lewis College of Business, said Dr. Haiyang Chen, dean of MU’s LCOB.
In 2000, Huntington Federal established the Kermit E. McGinnis Distinguished Professorship with an initial investment of $100,000. Since then, the bank has consistently added to its contribution each year. Last Wednesday, “we celebrated the goal of $500,000,” said Dr. Ron Area, CEO of the MU Foundation.
“It is such a milestone that we must celebrate and at the same time we want to say a big thank you for the support and generosity from Huntington Federal, Mr. Kermit E. McGinnis, chairman of the board, and Matthew Wagner, president and CEO of Huntington Federal,” Chen said. “We also want to thank all who have worked very hard to make this happen including the former dean, Dr. Chong Kim, our colleagues in the Marshall Foundation and many others. Our best thank you will come from effectively using the funds to support faculty and make an impact on community service.”
