Menighan’s visit wraps up the school’s monthlong celebration of American Pharmacists Month and includes meetings with students, faculty and staff.
“We are very encouraged by Tom’s visit back to Huntington and specifically to the School of Pharmacy,” said Kevin W. Yingling, R.Ph., M.D., dean of the school of pharmacy. “His career in pharmacy has been nothing short of stellar. He successfully opened and managed the Medicine Shoppe here in Huntington for some 20 years and since then has gone on to develop other significant pharmacy ventures across the country. He has helped millions of people along the way and our students are privileged to have this opportunity with him.”
Menighan’s schedule Monday includes a luncheon with student leaders and faculty and town hall meetings with third-year and fourth-year pharmacy students respectively, as well as private meetings with the school of pharmacy leadership.
The West Virginia native is a 1974 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and received his Master of Business Administration degree in 1990 from Averett College in Virginia. In addition to his career in community pharmacy and the pharma industry, Menighan has served volunteer roles within the pharmacy profession including president of APhA in 2001 and a member of the APhA Board of Trustees between 1995 and 2003. He is current partner in Pharmacy Associates Inc., a multistate specialty pharmacy that serves patients throughout the United States.
