Marshall community collecting items to help areas affected by flooding

Marshall University students, faculty and staff are mobilizing to assist West Virginia communities affected by this week’s flooding.

Representatives of the Women’s Studies Program are setting up collection barrels on the Huntington campus to accept donated supplies. Barrels will be located in the following locations:

  • Marshall Recreation Center, corner of 5th and 20th St.
  • Women’s Center, first floor of Pritchard Hall
  • Memorial Student Center, corner of 5th and John Marshall Dr.

Items needed include diapers, mops, bleach, wipes, bottled water, toothbrushes/toothpaste, shampoo, soap, washcloths, toilet paper, tissues, washcloths/towels and canned goods.

Donated supplies will be distributed through United Way chapters in the affected areas.

Monetary donations may be made through the Flood Emergency Fund link at www.unitedwaycwv.org, by texting Goal17 to 71777 or by calling (304) 253-2111.
