The Marshall University Research Corporation (MURC) has been pleased to experience a remarkable increase in grant Principal Investigators (PIs) (+13.9% from FY23) and awards to the University (+4.3% from FY23).
To provide the highest level of service and effectively manage demand, MURC asks PIs to follow a “10:5:3” proposal submission timeline, beginning July 1, 2025.
What This Means for You
✔️ No later than 10 Business Days Before Sponsor Deadline: Notify your MURC Pre-Award Officer of your intent to submit.
✔️ No later than 5 Business Days Before Sponsor Deadline: Submit your final budget and budget justification, Biosketch and Current & Pending (if applicable), and begin Cayuse Sponsored Projects (SP) routing.
✔️ No later than 3 Business Days Before Sponsor Deadline: Provide all remaining, final, proposal documents for a full compliance review and submission.
Proposals following the 10:5:3 timeline will take priority over those not submitted within this timeframe. MURC Pre-award will make reasonable efforts to review late proposals for compliance but cannot ensure the same level of service as those received on time. Proposals that are late and do not allow time for a MURC Pre-award review run the risk of not being fully compliant to sponsor requirements, thus being less likely to receive funding.
Maximize Your Funding Potential
To give your proposal the best chance of success, we also encourage you to:
✅ Reach out to the sponsor’s program officer early to discuss alignment with funding priorities.
✅ Plan for an external review with The Implementation Group for valuable feedback.
We’re here to support you every step of the way! For more details, see the attached timeline graphic or contact your MURC Pre-award Officer.
Thank you for your dedication to research, and we look forward to helping you secure funding!
