Meet Joey!
Joseph Ritter is a Graduate Student at Marshall University, majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management. Joey joined the Marshall Online Team as a Graduate Assistant in January of 2023. Joey assists with all facets of Marshall Online but works mostly with the Online Student engagement Team where he plays a pivotal role in enhancing the online student experience.

What is your favorite part of working with the Marshall Online Team?
My favorite part of working with the Marshall Online team is feeling like I belong. I feel like I have a voice and people hear what I have to say.
How have you grown professionally while on our team?
I like that I am able to apply what I am learning in my courses to the tasks that I complete in my role as a Graduate Assistant in Marshall Online. I have participated in projects that have helped me improve skills that I will need in my career. I feel confident that I will have no problem switching from going to school to going to work. I am gaining hands on experience that will prepare me for my career. I am receiving feedback that is showing me where I need to improve.
What might surprise us about you?
When I lived in Florida, I would go to the beach at least once per weekend. What I looked forward to the most was searching for shark teeth. It was cool to see all the different types and I now have hundreds in my collection.
What is your favorite part about Marshall University?
I love that I feel like I am a part of a huge family. I just feel welcomed.
What are your future plans for after you leave Marshall? If no plans yet, what would be your dream plan?
After I leave Marshall I plan to have a job lined up for right after I complete school. I am looking at Toyota at the moment because it is close. I would love to work with the Ford Motor Company if it meant that I did not have to move far away. This is still building up to the dream plan of one day being my own boss. I want to work with real estate buying houses to fix up and then sell for a profit. I have the idea of owning multiple businesses that span from housing, car washes, laundry mats, storage, and rentals. This is the dream!!
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
When I was growing up I first wanted to be a police officer. Second I wanted to be a mechanical engineer. Third I wanted to be a automotive mechanic. Now I am a semester away from completing my MBA. I know that I want to be in management. Right now I want to be a project manager. I also would not mind operating in either sales or marketing.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to work on cars, my wallet however does not. I love hanging out with friends online playing games. Last I love hanging out with my family.
