What to Know Before You Go
On March 22nd, the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center will be operating as a federal courthouse, with all the necessary security protocols.
- COME EARLY – Security screening will begin at 7:30 a.m.; everyone must be seated prior to the beginning of oral arguments, when the doors to the “courtroom” will be closed.
- No “in and out” – Please commit to staying for at least an entire argument; each should last 40 minutes. The doors to the courtroom will close at 9:25 a.m. and the first argument will begin. There will be breaks between arguments; people can enter and exit during breaks.
- Be prepared to clear security – Please see the list of Courtroom Prohibited Items below.
Items Prohibited in the Courtroom
- No weapons or potential weapons – (firearms, knives, sharp tools or instruments, pepper spray, ammunition, etc.)
- No flammable/combustible materials – (lighters, aerosol cans, etc.)
- No electronic devices – (cell phones, computers, cameras, audio or video recording devices, smart watches, etc.)
- No bags – (backpacks, purses, briefcase, etc.)
- No food or drinks
- No hats, except for religious purposes
