George Lambros, owner of the clothing store Lambros & Sons, missed being on the plane. Dr. Ray Hagley “begged” him to accept a ticket and fly with him to the game, but Lambros had to turn the offer down, because he had to work in his store on that Saturday. Lambros heard the news while watching television at home that night. He reacted by thinking, “I was supposed be on that plane.” He later noted that he had to close his store, because there were so many funerals to attend.
