This play is an imaginative dramatization of events in the 1960's in West Virginia. It was suggested by the book, They'll Cut Off Your Project, by Huey Perry, which is a factual account of the war on poverty in the 1960's from Mr. Perry's perspective. In the play some characters have been made up by the playwright, others are composites of certain W. Va. types. Proper names and places, except for two candidates for Governor and the State Capitol of W. Va., are imaginary. For a factual account of the 1960's war on poverty in W. Va., you are referred to Mr. Perry's book and his description of events at that time. They'll Cut Off Your Project was published by Praeger Publishers, New York, 1972.
