Biography
Lang Reynolds earned an M.F.A. in Design from Smith College, Northampton, MA and a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. Following his military service, he served as a full-time teacher/artist in graduate and undergraduate programs and as resident Lighting Designer, and/or Director of Production. In addition, he served as Co-Producer of UNCG’s Parkway Playhouse in Burnsville N.C., and Producer for Town and Gown Theatre and Chair of Theatre and Dance at U.A.B. Birmingham, AL. Currently, he is the Director for the School of Theatre and Dance Marshall University.
Professional work includes scenery and or lighting for over four hundred in theatre, opera and dance projects in colleges and regional theatres including Illinois Shakespeare Co., The Commons Theatre in Chicago, University of Michigan, The Greenbriar Valley Theatre, and the Florence Little Theatre and Town and Gown Theatre. Awards include a Joseph Jefferson Citation.
At present, Lang is the Director for the School of Theatre and Dance and Co-Director for the Marshall University. Musical Theatre interdisciplinary program with Dr. Martin Saunders, Director of the School of Music. His research area is in Lighting Design and involves the application the projected visual images, still and moving and/or textures to support the physical and emotional/ environment state of an actor in the context of the actor’s character in a fourth dimensional stage space.
