TIRI is an acronym that stands for Trauma-Informed, Resilience-Infused. A TIRI Campus is a campus that used broad-based and personalized measures to help everyone on campus understand the effects of traumatic stress on an individual person’s life, with emphasis on protecting and promoting learning and education from a trauma-informed perspective. A TIRI Campus provides ongoing and repeated training to all personnel who work for the university on what traumatic stress is, and why it is important for people who work in Higher Education to understand the effects of trauma, especially the effects on learning. A TIRI Campus provides basic education on the effects of traumatic stress to all of its students, regardless of academic disciplines, again, with special emphasis on understanding trauma’s effect on learning and what to do about it. A TIRI Campus provides multiple avenues of support not only to address trauma but also to promote resilience and personal responsibility for all members of the university community. A TIRI Campus coordinates and broadcasts information about these supports so that students, staff, faculty, and administration have access to supports and information to promote student success and resilience, on campus, and in the community.
