Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a proactive framework that allows all students to become expert learners. UDL provides the guidelines necessary for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that can work for everyone through flexible approaches tailored to address diverse learners’ needs. UDL principles guide the design of learning environments with a deep understanding and appreciation for individual variability.
The UDL Guidelines provide benchmarks for developing and implementing UDL across the curriculum. These guidelines offer a set of explicit instructions that can be applied to any discipline or domain to ensure that all learners have meaningful access and participation within learning opportunities.
