Group Visits
Marshall’s Office of Recruitment would love to host your group of 10 or more during a Marshall Group Visit. Your group can explore our beautiful campus on a guided tour or scavenger hunt, experience presentations tailored to your interests and have lunch in Harless Dining Hall.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE CONTINUING TO THE REGISTRATION PROCESS
- Marshall Group Visits are available on select days of the week. Please see our registration page for the calendar of available dates.
- In order to ensure you receive the best experience possible, our office requires a minimum of three weeks’ notice for your Marshall Group Visit reservation.
- We love our university and campus and want to share it with as many people as possible! We will do our best to accommodate big groups, but groups larger than 125 should expect to have date/time flexibility based on tour guide availability.
- We will do our best to accommodate your request, but please remember that staff availability will be limited during certain windows for recruiting events.
This request does not confirm your reservation. Please allow 2-3 business days for your request to be processed. A confirmation will be sent to the email provided. Please note that requests may occasionally take longer than 2-3 business days to be processed.
The office of recruitment offers two types of tours that can be adjusted to meet your needs.
Tours
- Our standard guided campus tour which is great for grades 8-12.
- For our younger guests, we offer a guided scavenger hunt! Great for grades K-7.
- Please note that due to NCAA regulations, the Office of Recruitment cannot facilitate visits to athletic facilities
Presentations
- Admissions Presentation (Covers the admissions process and all things Marshall, 30 minutes, ideal for grades 9-12)
- Professor Presentation (Could be a mock lecture, activity, or Q&A, 30-45 minutes, ideal for all ages)
- Marshall Trivia (Learn about Marshall through themed trivia, 15 minutes, ideal for grades K-8)
Lunch
- Harless Dining Hall
- Dine at our all-you-care-to-eat dining hall that offers a variety of food and caters to students with allergens.
- Bring your own packed lunch
Space can be reserved for groups bringing a packed lunch upon request.
- A full campus tour typically lasts up to 1.5 hours. A group that wants to include a presentation, full campus tour, and lunch on campus should expect to visit campus for at least 4 hours.
- In order to provide a comprehensive preview of life at Marshall, your group will be moving around campus and walking most of the day. We advise wearing comfortable clothing and shoes and dressing appropriately for the weather.
- Marshall Group Visits tend to be filled with lots of activities, so it is very important to arrive on time. If your group arrives more than 15 minutes late, it may not be possible to provide the full experience of a Marshall Group Visit.
- We will provide an itinerary for your Marshall Group Visit in advance so that you are sure of when to arrive and what to expect.
- If you are running late or need to cancel your Marshall Group Visit, please contact Phoebe Greco at grecop@marshall.edu or 304-696-2354.
- Marshall University prides itself on its warm and welcoming environment. Please help us honor this by remaining respectful of all faculty, staff, students, and campus facilities during your Marshall Group Visit and all associated activities. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping voices low while in academic or study buildings, walking through spaces and not running, staying with the group and not wandering off alone, etc.
- Marshall University reserves the right to end Marshall Group Visits early or bar future visits from a school or organization if conduct issues persist.
- Chaperones assigned to each group are expected to enforce appropriate conduct with their students.
- If you are registering a group for a visit but will not be present, please provide contact information for the primary chaperone attending the event in the registration form to ensure your visit meets expectations.
- Chaperones assigned to each group are expected to enforce appropriate conduct with their students.
- Groups will be divided into smaller sections for the tour component of your visit. Each section must have at least one chaperone. Depending on the number of participants and the availability of our tour guides, we may request additional chaperones. A comfortable size for each tour section is 15-25 students.
- Chaperones are expected to accompany their students for all components of the visit and assist guides in keeping the group together and safe.
- Buses and vans are welcome to park for free at the Marshall University football stadium on 20th Street.
